A BIT ABOUT ME
Hello
A dedicated, self-directed, enthusiastic educator with a passionate commitment to student development and success. I have seventeen years of experience in education, twelve of which I've been teaching High School Arts AV courses such as Graphic Design, Practicum of Graphic Design, Commercial Photography, and Digital Interactive Media developing result-driven lesson plans and delivering enthusiastic, project-based instruction. I've created challenging, enriching, and innovative activities that address the diverse interests and needs of students; continuously seeking out new and creative ways to improve instruction and link learning with fun; and equip students with the tools, resources, and knowledge to exceed individual goals. I am continuously striving to lead by example and to invest in the future of our children.

I am currently an Adjunct Online Graphic Design Professor for Dallas College (formally DCCCD Community Colleges) where I instruct classes in the Visual Design field as well as a High School Graphic Design & Photography Instructor.

I have had a hand in writing curriculum for our Graphic Design, Commercial Photography, and Principles of Design courses in both Rockwall ISD and Irving ISD. I have developed and implemented engaging lesson plans that keep my students interested and wanting to learn. I have involved technology in our project-based learning activities. I’ve pushed collaboration between peers in the classroom setting to spark multiple ideas in the learning process, as well as practiced collaboration with working on multiple teams with my co-workers to make sure our students learning experience will soar. I’ve pushed the creative process amongst my students to making connections within our classroom learning and getting involved in what’s going on. I strive to strike curiosity and push to finding their voice in the classroom.
Within my courses, I’ve introduced my students to real-world projects being created in the industry-ready software Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. My students developed online portfolios that showcase their work and show future employees and institutes their artistic ability. I’ve instructed live as well as online through a Learning Management System and started both The Visionary Studio and MacStudios, which are student-led enterprise at Dr. Gene Burton and MacArthur High School respectively offering photography and design services.
My Master's Degree in Instructional Technology and Design has equipped me with instructional design skills through practical application and broad knowledge in my craft. For the past 18 years, I have worked with a variety of customers, including Fab Dallas Magazine, AT&T, and Aramark, creating eye-catching, communication designs such as brochures, logos, posters, advertisements, invitations, and magazine spreads that were used to reach out to their customers. Working in a professional setting within these companies, I have learned different models of studio practice and have applied them to the development of my own creative design studio. Being the Head Designer of Fab Magazine, I’ve had the opportunity to work with various models, designers, artists, photographers, printers, as well as various staff and business owners.
